APPT Cebu 2010 Review
17th November 2010
Went to Cebu for a week, played in 4 tournaments, cashed in only one. Here's my review on the trip.
Cebu
Cebu is a nice city with friendly people. The taxi drivers are friendly and on the whole honest. They do look for the occasional tip, but it was okay for me. The only time I felt unsafe was when I was mobbed by a group of children who tried to pick my pocket. They have pretty cheap massages, for Php 200 per hour. (approx USD6) Although you can get a similar massage at the Shangri-la Resort (where the APPT was held) for 10 times that price.
Poker
There were cash games at the APPT and I also played at the All-In Club at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino. The games were quite fishy at the casino and I made some decent profits. The players at the APPT were more solid, however still beatable. The atmosphere was friendly, overall a pretty nice experience.
APPT
First event was the Cebu Cup, however the structure was a bit too fast for my liking. I also played in the 20k NLHE, 20k NLHE Bounty and 30k PLO tournaments. I got bad beat in the 20k event with a donkey calling me all the way with middle pair. He rivered the set. The 20K bounty event I felt was the most fun. I finished 7th without taking a bounty, but still it was pretty cool. At the final table I sat next to Celina Lin (Pokerstars Pro Asia). She was very hot, and very cool at the same time. Really fun to play with, and really nice to talk to. I got to take a picture with her, but I am not posting my ugly mug here. However below is a picture of her. (*btw if Celina you're reading this, good luck and hope to play with you again sometime)

Overall I had a pretty good time, poker wise I broke even. I really wanted to play the 30k PLO but had I not done it, that was my profit. Anyway I will probably go back next year. If you guys would like a more detailed report of the event, post a comment with your email address with your questions. Thanks!

Tom Dwan (Durrrr) Wins A 40 Million Pot
15th November 2010
BIG NEWS: Tom Dwan aka Durrrr has won the biggest cash game pot that I have heard so far. HKD 22 million, approximately USD 2.8 million!
I am in transit at Singapore airport after spending the past week in Cebu at the APPT. I love Singapore and their attention to detail. So many free internet computers around here. Nice.
The past week Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan has been playing in Macau at the Asian Poker Tour. Most people were surprised that they would travel so far for a small tournament (by their standards). However little did we know that they were attracted by a juicy HKD10,000/20,000 cash game with plenty of rich fishes. (It's about USD 1500/3000) As expected, they both busted out of the main event and played the cash game.
Durrrr played in it and shoved with AK, called by two other players holding Queens and the other Tens. Durrrr however won the pot and it was said to be HKD 22,000,000. (approx. USD 2.8 million). It doesn't surprise me that the games got so big. Macau can have some crazy action.
PS: I will post my full report on the Cebu APPT after a good night's rest.

UEFA Champions League Group Stages Predictions & Tips
2nd November 2010
European week again. I am in a hurry so let's just jump straight in.
Tottenham vs Inter Milan
Last time around, I predicted Tottenham for an upset. Unfortunately they went 3 goals and 1 man down very early, but put on a strong fight to come back to 4:3. This time, at home, they have a strong chance of beating Inter Milan. For a safer bet, go for Tottenham (0) on Asian handicap.
Bursaspor vs Manchester United
I still don't know who Bursaspor is, but like I predicted last time, Man Utd did score a quick early goal. Coming off some good but tough results, Man Utd are back to their winning ways. They need to secure a place in the Champions League and soon. I expect Man Utd to come out firing again.
CFR Cluj vs Bayern Munich
Bayern is doing well lately and against Cluj even though away, they should win comfortably. Bayern's away form isn't great, but they have won 4 of the last 5 games they have played. Last time around, Bayern scraped through for a 3-2 win at home, but I think they will be better this time round.
Shaktar Donetsk vs Arsenal
The odds for Arsenal to win are surprisingly long. Yes Arsenal has had a pretty tough couple of weeks, playing 2 games a week and mostly with their first 11. But last time round, Arsenal won 5:1 remember? Maybe Shaktar's home form is great, but that is the Ukrainian league, not EPL. I expect Arsenal to be too strong for the home side.
Good luck!
