30th March 2010
First of all, Bayern Munich take on Manchester United. This is a huge clash and in my opinion an even match despite the bookmakers favoring the away team. I think it is hugely based on reputation rather than true form. Don't get me wrong, Manchester United is running hot at the moment, but so is Bayern.
Bayern has won 9 of 10 of their last home games. Manchester on the other hand has not done very well away, winning 50% of their last 10. This is a huge clash and I think Man Utd would be happy to take a scoring draw. (i.e. 1-1, 2-2) Interesting stat is that these two teams have drawn 4 times the last 4 times they met. I would go for the draw for great odds and a highly probable result. 3.25@BET365
I would give the Lyon vs Bordeaux game a miss because it doesn't interest me. It is really difficult to tip these games where teams of the same league play each other in a European game. Lyon has the upper hand in home advantage but Bordeaux is top of the French Ligue.
Inter Milan face the underdogs CSKA Moscow and I am sure Mourinho would want to end the tie at home. Expect Inter to come out attacking and probably winning by 3 or 4 goals. Inter win 1.40@BET365 is still a decent return at 40%. For longer odds, go for Inter -1.
Lastly is Arsenal facing the mighty Barcelona. Being an Arsenal fan, I obviously would want them to win. However we all know the task is going to be very tough. Arsenal will likely be without Fabregas who they need sorely. Arshavin is not playing as well as he could and Bentdner alone is not going to trouble the Barca defense too much. However in saying that, Barcelona would be happy with a scoring draw and winning the tie at home. I expect Arsenal to defend and counter attack, maybe employing Walcott and Nasri on the wings and making long runs, or Eboue at right for his defensive qualities. Personally I like the draw, but Barcelona will win if Messi does his thing. Your choice.
SUMMARY:
Bayern vs Manchester United: DRAW
Inter Milan vs CSKA Moscow: INTER WIN, INTER-1
Arsenal vs Barcelona: Draw or Barcelona Win
Good luck

English Premier League Predictions (Saturday)
26th March 2010
Interesting games this week. The season is coming to its end and now every game counts. Every result will change the course of who wins, who gets relegated.
First game of the Saturday is the surprise team of the season, Birmingham, facing Arsenal the title contenders. Birmingham had strung some good results together but recent form has been poor. Arsenal will have Fabregas back and should prove too strong for Birmingham. Arsenal win 1.53@BET365 is a good return.
Everton has been doing really well lately and is making a late push for 4th spot. They would want to extend that run at Wolverhampton. Wolves have been inconsistent throughout the season and should drop points against Everton. Everton away win 2.10@BET365 is excellent value.
SUMMARY
Birmingham vs Arsenal: Arsenal away WIN
Wolves vs Everton: Everton away WIN
Good luck!

Annette Obrestad vs Doyle Brunson
25th March 2010
Recently I was going through the videos from WSOPE 2009 and I heard Annette Obrestad made a comment that she has more experience playing poker than Doyle Brunson. Her reasoning is that she plays 300 hands an hour online, and Doyle plays 30 hands an hour live.
Who the heck is Annette Obrestad?
She is Norwegian, 21 years old, plays poker and won the 2007 WSOPE. As of 2009[update], her total live tournament winnings exceed $2,700,000, most of which, $1,960,000, is accounted for from her only WSOPE cash. She has won some tournaments online and has been playing since she was 15 (illegal in most countries). In 2009 she led the European team in winning the Caesars Cup beating the Americas team. However she was rude and obnoxious and later followed up by saying that she is more experienced than Doyle Brunson in the WSOPE Main Event interview.
Who the heck is Doyle Brunson? (Where the heck have you been if you don't know!)
He is American, 67 years old, called the Big Papa, legend of poker. He is a poker hall of fame inductee and has won 11 WSOP bracelets so far. He has been playing poker for over 50 years and as of 2009, his total live tournament winnings exceeded $5,800,000. He has wrote 7 poker books, most of them best sellers, always with a smile and always with class.
So Annette has been playing 300 hands per hour for 6 years, Doyle has been playing 30 hands per hour for 50 years. Does that make Annette the more experienced one because she has played more hands? Doyle might say, "Good for her", but in my opinion, she is just a brat who thinks too much of herself and should keep her mouth shut. Phil Helmuth maybe the poker brat, but he has won 12 bracelets and cashed in most WSOP tourneys. But who the heck is Obrestad? If you want to talk about hands played, what about Phil Ivey who plays Live and Online and has won over 10 million in live tourneys and much more from cash games. But you don't see Ivey talking shit about Brunson.
Shut up Annette and grow up.

Who will win the Barclay's Premier League this season?
22nd March 2010
Both Arsenal and Manchester United won their games this week and Chelsea drawing theirs. This season's race is as wide open and a 3-horse-race, something we haven't seen in many years now. Both Arsenal and Manchester United have 7 more games to go, and Chelsea has 8.
Manchester United, 2 points clear of Arsenal, 4 points ahead of Chelsea are obviously the favorites now. As long as they win all their games, they will win the Premiership. However it is not as easy as that. In recent weeks they have not been entirely convincing and some would say got a lucky win over Liverpool yesterday. They still have to face Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham in their last 7 games. However playing at home against Chelsea would give them a huge upper hand.
Chance of winning: 55%
Chelsea was leading for a long time in the season. However lately they have not performed to their best potential. Crashing out of all competitions and drawing at Blackburn has really hurt their confidence. Now they have to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford to have any chance. They also have to face Aston Villa (albeit not in good form) and Liverpool.
Chance of winning: 30%
Arsenal only 2 points behind Manchester United, and seemingly the easiest of fixtures coming up. How they wish Liverpool could hold Manchester to a point but now it comes down to Chelsea doing them a favor by beating Manchester United or drawing. Arsenal however still have to face Tottenham and Manchester City and with Vermaelen suspended and Gallas still injured, they will have defensive difficulties. However they still have an outside chance of winning.
Chance of winning: 25%

European Champions League Quarter Final and Semi Final Draw
March 19th 2010
The Quarter Final and Semi Final draws are out. What do you think? Who has the easiest route? Who faces the biggest challenge?
Lyon faces Bordeaux in an all French affair. They should be quite happy about it. They know their opponents well and all the other teams, I think they much prefer to meet their French opponent.
Bayern Munich will face Manchester United. With Chelsea out of the Champions League, they will have more time to focus on the Premier League whilst Manchester United have to keep an eye on both competitions. Bayern is a good team on their day with dangerman Robben on form. But Manchester much rather face the Germans than the likes of Barcelona.
Speaking of which, they are drawn with Arsenal. This is a mouth watering match up with both teams playing the most entertaining and sometimes art form like football in the world. As much as I love Arsenal, I fear for them as Barca is definitely the team to beat in the competition. However I still remember how they ran over Real Madrid, Bayern etc in 2006 to reach the final. Regardless, this is the match up to watch.
Finally Inter after having beaten Chelsea must be feeling really good about themselves. They draw first time quarter finalists CSKA. CSKA must be one of the underdogs in this competition so Mourinho should feel quite confident about the draw.
As far as Semi finals go, Manchester United seem to have the best draw (assuming they can get past Bayern) because the winner of their quarter final will face the winner of the French duel. Inter should progress but would be faced with either Arsenal or Barcelona.
My prediction, Manchester United will face Arsenal or Barcelona in the final. The clash of the 2006 finalists is too close to call, with a moment of brilliance from Messi or Fabregas could change the entire outcome.
Enjoy...

Barclays Premier League Tips and Predictions (Saturday)
13th March 2010
Last round of tipping was amazing, I went 5 out of 5 for a 100% record. I hope you read it and bet on at least some of the games. This week I hope to continue on with the streak and bring you some value bets, bets that pay over 1.50 in odds.
First of we go to Birmingham. Birmingham has been playing really well this season, albeit their last few results have been tough and scrappy. They face Everton that came off a 5-1 win and a very in form Arteta. Everton has a very poor away record but recently they have won against Manchester United and Chelsea in close succession. Birmingham has played well at home, but their form has been inconsistent, alternating between winning and losing in their last 7 games. If that pattern continues, they would lose again tonight. For value, I would go for Everton to win 2.40@BET365. Great odds for an in form team.
Stoke will play Aston Villa and the Villains have been on good form lately. They showed tremendous character come from behind and beating Reading in their last game. However you must fault them for giving Reading the lead in the first place. However they will be too strong for Stoke and Villa to win 2.25@BET365 is such a yummy payout that we can't miss.
Finally Hull City vs Arsenal. Arsenal coming off a 4 game winning streak including a 5-0 drubbing of Porto midweek. Hull City coming of a drubbing by the hands of Everton 5-1 last weekend. The only saving grace for Hull is that Fabregas will not be playing. But you have seen how Arsenal can still dominate without their leader, and every game from here is a must-win for the Gunners if they want to challenge for the Premiership. Arsenal to win 1.40@BET365 or win -1 2.20@BET365 are really good value.

SUMMARY:
Birmingham vs Everton: Everton AWAY WIN
Stoke vs Aston Villa: Aston Villa AWAY WIN
Hull vs Arsenal: Arsenal AWAY WIN, Arsenal -1 AWAY WIN
Good luck!

Phil Ivey goes vegan for a $1,000,000 bet
9th March 2010
On High Stakes Poker last night (episode 3), Phil Ivey got into a bet with Tom "Durrrr" Dwan to not eat meat for an entire year. Tom initially wanted to make it $500,000 but that was too "low" for Ivey. Ivey countered with 1.5 million to make it worth his while to persist with the bet.
Both parties later agreed that it would be a cool million to the victor and either party can buy-out the bet at any time during the 12 months. Good luck to both of them.
Gus Hansen joked about a celibacy bet, but please... Gus.... I doubt he would last a month...
I only wish someone to make these kinds of bets with me and I would be rich. To be honest I rather go 1 year without something than work 20 years and still not get the same amount of money....
On a side note, there is a lot of trust and integrity between poker players. Phil Ivey can sneak in some steaks at home and Tom Dwan doesn't even have to know about it. For a game where deception and tricks play such a big role, these guys would have to be very honest to make such a big bet valid.
