Recently I was going through the videos from WSOPE 2009 and I heard Annette Obrestad made a comment that she has more experience playing poker than Doyle Brunson. Her reasoning is that she plays 300 hands an hour online, and Doyle plays 30 hands an hour live.
Who the heck is Annette Obrestad?
She is Norwegian, 21 years old, plays poker and won the 2007 WSOPE. As of 2009[update], her total live tournament winnings exceed $2,700,000, most of which, $1,960,000, is accounted for from her only WSOPE cash. She has won some tournaments online and has been playing since she was 15 (illegal in most countries). In 2009 she led the European team in winning the Caesars Cup beating the Americas team. However she was rude and obnoxious and later followed up by saying that she is more experienced than Doyle Brunson in the WSOPE Main Event interview.
Who the heck is Doyle Brunson? (Where the heck have you been if you don't know!)
He is American, 67 years old, called the Big Papa, legend of poker. He is a poker hall of fame inductee and has won 11 WSOP bracelets so far. He has been playing poker for over 50 years and as of 2009, his total live tournament winnings exceeded $5,800,000. He has wrote 7 poker books, most of them best sellers, always with a smile and always with class.
So Annette has been playing 300 hands per hour for 6 years, Doyle has been playing 30 hands per hour for 50 years. Does that make Annette the more experienced one because she has played more hands? Doyle might say, "Good for her", but in my opinion, she is just a brat who thinks too much of herself and should keep her mouth shut. Phil Helmuth maybe the poker brat, but he has won 12 bracelets and cashed in most WSOP tourneys. But who the heck is Obrestad? If you want to talk about hands played, what about Phil Ivey who plays Live and Online and has won over 10 million in live tourneys and much more from cash games. But you don't see Ivey talking shit about Brunson.
Shut up Annette and grow up.
She's just a disgusting whale, stupid bitch.
ReplyDeleteGreat article. Didn't personally hear the comment, but can certainly understand it coming from the young and often disrespectful.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see someone else blogging about poker.
